Miss Chiquita was crown yesterday Drag Show Artist 2011 in a contenst placed in Pressa Club (Helsinki).

Contest jury included this year Stefan Wallin (Secretary of Defense), Jussi Laitinen (Mr Gay Finland), Miitta Sorvali (actor, TV star), Mia Malmi (reporter) and Hannele Laurila (Manager of Sokos Hotel Presidentti).

Contest was hosted by the wonderful Riita "Ritu" Suominen and who else than Finnish drag Superstar Juha "Mega-Paula" Rastas.

QLife's Gay Finland has been informed that largest and best known Finnish Gay nightclub dtm will close at Iso Roobertinkatu (street) before the turn of the year.  

dtm is owned by Ravintola Oy Afrodite - a company opened a new K23 Gay nightclub  to Kamppi Shopping Center earlier this year.

New K23 gay bar has been added to Gay Guide. K23 was opened this August to Kamppi shopping centre. Bar has often themed evenings. K23 is open from Wednesday to Sunday nights between 4:00pm and 4:00am.

Joulukuussa eTourism edelläkävijöitä valittiin kaksi: homoystävällisiä matkailupalveluja markkinoiva Gay Friendly Helsinki ja gay-matkailijoille palvelujaan verkossa tarjoava QLife.fi.

Aiheena gay-matkailu on ajankohtainen ja potentiaali tälle matkailun kohderyhmälle suunnatuissa verkkopalveluissa on merkittävä. Mm. Berliinin matkamessuilla oli vuonna 2010 ensimmäistä kertaa oma alue HLBT-matkailulle ja Sao Paolossa on vihitty käyttöön ensimmäinen homoille tarkoitettu matkailun tiedotuskeskus. Monet Euroopan suurkaupungit yrittävät houkutella gay-matkailijoita eri tavoin ja HLBT-kohderyhmälle suunnattuja verkkopalveluja kehitetään jatkuvasti.

Infiniti Events järjestää Helsingin The Circuksessa 22. lokakuuta Q -The Carnival -tapahtuman. Q on Suomen suurin koskaan järjestetty queer-yökerhotapahtuma. Tapahtumassa esiintyy muun muassa yksi Skandinavian ja Euroopan arvostetuimmista gay-dj:stä, tanskalainen John Eltong.

Q - The Carnival -bileissä on mukana yhteistyössä QLife’s Gay Finland / Homosuomi -palvelu sekä sateenkaari- ja pride-tuotteiden verkkokauppa Q-Shop, joka toteuttaa tapahtumapaikalla myyntipisteen, josta on mahdollista hankkia sateenkaarilippuja, avain- ja kaulanauhoja, pinssejä ja muita pridetuotteita.

Mr Gay Europe 2010 pageant has been called off just three days before the event. The cancellation is due to financial troubles that have been caused by cancelled sponsorship deals. This will also affect the plans of Finland's representative Kenneth Liukkonen.

Mega-Paulan Drag Show Artist -kilpailun vuoden 2010 voittaja Linnea von Kattendamilla on Helsingissä loppuvuoden aikana useita esiintymisiä, joista kahdeksan sisältyy hänen pikkujoulukiertueeseen.

Kattendam tuo Ravintola Lost & Foundiin sekä Ravintola Fenixiin kaksi eri esitystä - Hullu Kissatäti SHOW ja Sanoja rakkaudesta -shown. Ensimmäiset esitykset ovat 6.11. ja 12.11.

Suomen ainoa lesbo- ja homoelokuvan festivaali Vinokino järjestetään viidessä kaupungissa loka-marraskuussa. Tänä vuonna jo 19. kertaa järjestettävän festivaalin monipuolinen ohjelmisto tarjoaa festivaaleilla menestyneitä pitkiä elokuvia sekä ulkomaisia ja kotimaisia lyhytelokuvia. Moninaisia sukupuoli- ja seksuaali-identiteettejä tarkastelevat elokuvat keskustelevat oman identiteetin löytämisen ja hyväksynnän tärkeydestä muun muassa queer-, trans- ja karhuteemojen kautta.

SAS Scandinavian Airlines is hoping to host the world’s first same-sex wedding in the air onboard an Airbus A340 between Stockholm and New York on December 6 this year. To find the couple, the airline today launched a major social media campaign, Love is in the air (www.flysas.com/love).

Tampere Pride 2011 Culture Event will be arranged 21 - 24 July 2011. The festivities offer a variety of fun and exiting things to see and experience: performances, Pride Parade, theatre, exhibitions and films.

The popular Pink Nightclub closes in the end of May. A new bar will be opened on the premises later on. The new bar will not be queer-oriented.
